DETAILS:Las Vegas Little Theatre is proud to present announcements for the auditions for our summer musical Ruthless! The Musical.
RUTHLESS! the stage mother of all musicals will open at Las Vegas Little Theatre this July. The Off-Broadway campy cult
favorite hilariously twists the story lines of the THE BAD SEED and ALL ABOUT EVE, then flavors it with elements of
GYPSY, MAME, and THE WOMEN. The result is a malicious and delicious cyanide birthday cake – an uproarious take on
Broadway, stage mothers, child acting and unbridled ambition. This aggressively outrageous musical hit garnered rave
reviews during its long Off-Broadway run and was revived to another round of raves in 2016. The production will be
directed by Rob Kastil with musical direction by Alan Gelfius.
ALL NON-TRADITIONAL CASTING FOR RUTHLESS! WILL BE CONSIDERED
Although the show is written to be performed by an all female cast, the role of Sylvia St. Croix has often been played by a male actor
in drag. While the show can be cast with any combination of male and female actors, any actors auditioning for the opposite sex
should audition earnestly and not as a burlesque drag turn. Ideally Tina should be an 8-14 year old powerhouse, but can be played
by an adult male or female.
JUDY DENMARK/GINGER DEL MARCO
Tina's mother, a simple, soft spoken June Cleaver-type housewife, who is transformed into Ginger Del Marco, a Norma Desmond-
Margo Channing type raging diva.
F below middle C to B Flat one octave above middle C
Preferred Audition Songs: Tina’s Mother, It Can Never Be That Way Again.
An 8-year old triple threat, loaded with talent and manipulative to the core. She is sickeningly sweet but underneath, is a
remorseless psychopath. She will be required to tap, and should have a strong belt. Some strong language required.
F# below middle C to E one octave above middle C
Preferred Audition Song: Born To Entertain
SYLVIA ST. CROIX
Stereotypical in-your- face talent manager, with a mysterious past; a cross between Mama Rose and Auntie Mame.
A one octave below middle C to E above middle C.
Preferred Audition Song; Talent
A wannabe actress with a big ego who had to settle for teaching 3rd grade. She is the director of the school play, and somewhat
E below middle C to B above middle C.
Preferred Audition Song: Teaching Third Grade
LOUISE LERMAN/EVE ALLABOUT
A dual role: Louise - the student who beats out Tina for the lead in the school play, she has very limited talent and is much larger
than Tina, middle C to B Flat above middle C;
Eve Allabout - the personal assistant to Broadway star, Ginger – a psychotic Anne Baxter from ALL ABOUT EVE
F# below middle C to C above middle C.
Preferred Audition Songs: The Pippi Song, Penthouse Apartment
Judy's adoptive mother, a theatre critic with a poison pen, who hates musicals, an Ethel Merman-type with a strong belt,
E below middle C to D one octave above middle C
Preferred Audition Songs: I Hate Musicals
Please prepare one of the preferred audition songs. If that is not possible, you can sing any Broadway type song fitting the
character. An accompanist will be provided, so bring sheet music. No acapella auditions will be accepted. You might be asked to
do a cold reading from the script, but preliminary auditions will be primarily vocal.
The 2016 Off-Broadway recording contains all the audition songs in the correct keys.
