In the summertime, the temperature easily reaches into the 110's. Summer 2005 was unusually hot where Las vegas saw several weeks of temperatures in the 110's. It is normal in Las Vegas to have temperatures in the daytime hours above 100 and in the evenings, still in the 90's.
Winters in Las Vegas can become cold... although relative to where you grew up. Cold in Las Vegas can be in the 40's and 50's. We have reached freezing temperatures and usually make international news when snow actually falls on the west side of town (it's closer to the mountain elevations than the east side of town).
Las Vegas is a dry heat and won't make you sweat nearly as fast as back east. The humidity in the low teens is normal. Most people agree that 110 degrees with dry heat is still better than 90 degree, 90 percent humidty found on the east coast!
