When a producer "4-wall's" a theater in a hotel, he takes on full responsibility for the production. The producer will rent the space from the hotel for a fee and must pay for all expenses related to the run of the show (payroll, costumes, sets, and advertising). A "2-wall" is a situation where the hotel picks up half of the cost of the production or advertising or any combination of expenses. In general, when a hotel pays for a show outright, the production receives full attention of the hotel marketing department and the show has a greater chance of survival. "4-wall" productions have a greater chance of closing early due to the extreme costs involved in producing a show in Las Vegas.
